Femenina, Flowers, Shinto Shrine, Emoticon Hands, 53 by 53 in. Emilia Kallock, 2018 Initially this painting began with a lot of yin energy intentions, the portrayal of the girl and young woman with flowers and an essentially soft, floral, and peaceful energy, but the bold colors are more yang. I intend these two attributes balance each other. It is also a painting of hopeful regeneration with the planting of a pine tree sapling and the rope delineation from Shinto shrines (marking a sacred space in nature) and the background of prayer and praise emoji hands.

Awareness Portrait, acrylic on paper, 10 by 10 in. Emilia Kallock 2018. This portrait illustrates how my thought process works when I am conscious of which thoughts I want to expand. I liken it to a frenzy of shooting stars, some of which I will select to expand upon- represented by the two large eye stars. This phenomenon arises from the many mindfulness practices I’ve studied as if late, including works by Sri Chinmoy, Megan Sillito, and Access Consciousnesses methodology among others.
